Domelevo: Akufo-Addo’s administration complete failure
In a forceful critique, Daniel Yaw Domelevo, the former Auditor-General of Ghana, has condemned President Nana Akufo-Addo’s New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration as a “complete failure”.
Speaking on the Class Morning Show (Class 91.3 FM), Friday, September 6, 2024, Domelevo pointed to several key issues he believes exemplify the current administration’s shortcomings.
Domelevo cited rampant corruption, substantial financial losses, and the uneven distribution of state resources as major indicators of a failed Nana Akufo-Addo leadership.
He emphasised these issues were not just minor problems but significant failures that have deeply affected the country’s governance and development.
In his interview with Kwame Dwomoh-Agyemang, Domelevo specifically criticised “the appointment of incompetent” individuals to important positions within the government, arguing these appointments contribute to a culture of corruption and inefficiency, which in turn obstructs the country's progress.
“The appointment of incompetent people to key positions is a major reason for the corruption we see today. This practice is severely impeding our national development,” Domelevo said.
He also addressed the administration’s handling of the galamsey crisis, a pressing issue that has seen widespread public criticism.
Domelevo noted Mr Nana Akufo-Addo had not kept his word to address illegal mining operations, even if it meant risking his presidency.
“President Akufo-Addo’s failure to effectively manage the galamsey issue, despite his earlier commitments, is another example of his administration’s inability to address critical national problems,” Domelevo asserted.
