Energy Ministry reaffirms commitment to rural electrification and grid stability
The Deputy Minister for Energy, Richard Gyan-Mensah, on Friday, February 20, 2026, responded to a series of questions on the floor of the Parliament of Ghana regarding rural electrification, grid expansion and power supply stability.
Speaking on behalf of the Minister for Energy, Dr John Abdulai Jinapor, the Deputy Minister outlined ongoing efforts by the Ministry to improve electricity access and strengthen the national power infrastructure.
The questions from Members of Parliament focused on progress made in extending electricity to underserved communities, measures being implemented to enhance grid reliability, and steps taken to stabilise power supply across various parts of the country.
In his responses, Mr. Gyan-Mensah reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to accelerating rural electrification projects, expanding transmission networks and reinforcing distribution systems to reduce outages and improve service delivery.
He stressed that the government remains focused on ensuring equitable access to electricity nationwide, particularly for rural and peri-urban communities, as part of broader national development objectives.
The Ministry, he added, will continue to prioritise infrastructure investment and policy interventions aimed at strengthening Ghana’s energy sector and supporting economic growth.
