Fire guts mobile money and phone shops at Kasoa Walantu, two injured
A devastating fire has destroyed a mobile money shop and a phone accessories shop at Kasoa Walantu in the Awutu Senya East Municipality of the Central Region, leaving two people injured.
The incident occurred on Monday, December 22, 2025.
Reports indicate that the fire started in a container housing a phone shop and later spread to a nearby mobile money shop, causing extensive damage.
Eyewitness Abdul Rahim, who was at the scene, said the blaze consumed everything in both shops, reducing phones, accessories and other items to ashes before help arrived.
The Assemblyman for the Walantu–Top Hill Electoral Area, Mr. Robert Arthur, confirmed the incident and attributed the fire outbreak to an electrical fault in one of the containers.
He noted that all items in the affected shops were completely destroyed.
The injured persons are said to be receiving medical attention, while the extent of losses is yet to be fully assessed.
Authorities are expected to carry out further investigations into the incident.
