Former Tema MCE rallies GIMPA alumni to support institution’s growth

A former Metropolitan Chief Executive of the Tema Metropolitan Assembly in the Greater Accra Region, Mr. Felix Mensah Nii Anang-La, has called on alumni of the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) to play a more proactive role in supporting the institute’s growth and long-term sustainability.
Speaking at a GIMPA alumni gathering in Accra, Mr. Anang-La—who is also a past National President of the National Association of Local Authorities of Ghana (NALAG), praised the institution for its immense contribution to leadership development in Ghana and beyond.
He revealed that GIMPA has produced over 64 Members of Parliament, along with numerous Ministers, Deputy Ministers, and chief executives—a record he described as a reflection of the institution’s academic excellence.
“This is a call to action for all alumni to give back meaningfully and invest in the future of GIMPA,” he stated.
Mr. Anang-La underscored the importance of building a strong and engaged alumni network that can mentor emerging leaders, support institutional projects, and contribute to infrastructure and endowment initiatives.
“We have the numbers, the influence, and the capacity.
It’s time to move from pride to partnership in shaping GIMPA’s future,” he added.
Also addressing the gathering was Mr. Abraham Dela Newman, Sales Manager at SIC Life, who urged alumni to consider insurance as a crucial safety net for life’s uncertainties.
He introduced the GIMPA Alumni Welfare Plan, designed to offer financial support in times of bereavement, accidents, and hospitalization.
He also encouraged members to explore personal insurance options for greater financial security and long-term stability.
Mr. Newman commended SIC Life’s Managing Director, Ing. Esq. Solomon Twum Barimah, for his visionary leadership, noting that the company remains a trusted pillar of financial protection under his stewardship.
