GA/R: Fault at Afienya substation disrupts power supply to customers
Power supply to several communities served by the Afienya substation in the Greater Accra Region has been interrupted following a transformer fault detected in the early hours of Thursday.
According to officials, the transformer tripped at dawn, prompting engineers to begin immediate diagnostic checks to assess its condition and determine the cause of the malfunction.
As a result, customers connected to the substation are currently without electricity.
Technical teams are conducting tests on the transformer, with the assessment expected to be completed by 5:00 p.m. today. Authorities say the exact time for restoration of power will be confirmed once the tests are concluded and the equipment’s operational status is verified.
The Electricity Company of Ghana’s Corporate Communications Team is preparing an official statement to provide further updates to affected customers.
Residents and businesses in the area have been advised to await further communication as engineers work to restore the supply as quickly as possible.
