GOC Northern Command commends young soldiers for excellence in tactical training

The General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Northern Command, Brigadier General Worlanyo Agbebo, has lauded the resilience, discipline, and professionalism exhibited by participants of the Basic Non-Commissioned Officers Tactical Course 1-25 (BNTC 1-25) during their 16-week intensive training.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, Brigadier General Agbebo described the course as a vital step in enhancing the tactical proficiency of young soldiers, in line with the Ghana Army’s overarching vision of “Professionalism and Combat Readiness,” championed by the Chief of the Army Staff.
He noted that the decentralisation of the course in 2019 was a strategic decision aimed at accelerating the training of a growing number of personnel across the Ghana Army.
The initiative, he said, has helped close training gaps and strengthen readiness, especially in the country’s northern regions.
Brigadier General Agbebo emphasised the importance of continuous training to equip troops for emerging security threats, particularly in northern Ghana.
Referring to the ongoing conflict in Bawku, he called on troops to remain vigilant, disciplined, and professional in the execution of their duties.
“The training you’ve undergone must reflect in your daily operations.
Let your conduct be an example to others.
Stay away from social vices such as betting and fraud, which tarnish the image of the Ghana Armed Forces,” he cautioned.
He also expressed appreciation to the instructors for their commitment and excellence in delivering the course successfully.
The BNTC 1-25 course, conducted under the Northern Command, covered key military operations including conventional warfare, counter-insurgency, counter-terrorism, and internal security operations.
Participants also underwent specialised orientation at the Jungle Warfare School in Achiase.
