GSFP boss calls on gov't to waive 3 percent tax on payments to caterers
The Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP) is making significant progress under the leadership of its new National Coordinator, Hajia Fati Forgor.
In an interview with Classs News, Hajia Forgor highlighted the programme's achievements and challenges since she took office in March 2025.
Key Achievements:
- Improved payment system for caterers, with payments made promptly and efficiently
- Enhanced monitoring and evaluation system to ensure quality food is served to children
- Collaboration with development partners, including the World Bank and WFP, to support the programme
- Plans to expand the programme to cover more schools, particularly in remote areas
Challenges:
- Ensuring timely payment to caterers
- Addressing issues of malnutrition among children
- Expanding the programme to cover more schools
Hajia Forgor emphasised the importance of teamwork and collaboration in achieving the programme's goals.
She also appealed to the government to waive the 3% tax on payments to caterers, saying it would go a long way in supporting the programme.
In her Christmas message, Hajia Forgor wished all Ghanaians a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
She urged everyone to celebrate responsibly and safely, and to prioritise the well-being of children and young people.
The GSFP is a vital programme that provides meals to over 4.2 million children in public schools across Ghana.
Under Hajia Forgor's leadership, the programme is poised to make even greater strides in improving the lives of Ghanaian children.
