The Garrison Methodist Presbyterian Church (GMPC) has officially launched its 70th Anniversary, ushering in a two-year celebration to commemorate seven decades of spiritual service and community impact.

The Deputy Minister for Defence, Ernest Brogya Genfi, attended the launch ceremony as Guest of Honour, accompanied by his wife, and joined the congregation in marking the historic milestone.

The anniversary is being celebrated under the theme, “70 Years of God’s Grace in Fulfilling Our Christian Mission – Our Gratitude, Sacrifice, Service and Praise.”

The theme reflects the church’s enduring spiritual guidance and influence within the Burma Camp Garrison and surrounding communities.

Addressing the congregation, Mr Brogya Genfi described the milestone as not only a celebration of longevity but also one of impact, resilience, discipline and unwavering commitment to Christian duty.

He noted that over the decades, the church has demonstrated the love of Christ beyond its walls, particularly through support for the vulnerable.

He also commended the various church associations and groups for their unity and teamwork, stating that their collective efforts have strengthened the body of Christ and contributed significantly to the moral and spiritual fabric of the Ghana Armed Forces and the nation as a whole.

As part of the launch, the church unveiled its 70th Anniversary logo.

Planned activities for the celebration include a sod-cutting ceremony for a legacy project, a homecoming event, evangelism outreaches, public lectures and an entrepreneurship drive, among other programmes.

The anniversary celebrations are expected to further reinforce the church’s mission of service, faith and community development over the next two years.
