Government has reassured victims of non-consensual recordings that psychological and emotional support is available, as investigations continue into a Russian national alleged to have secretly recorded Ghanaian women and distributed the footage online for financial gain.

The assurance comes after a joint meeting between the Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, MP, and the Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Dr Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, with the Russian Ambassador to Ghana, Sergei Berdnikov, to discuss the case and international cooperation.

The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection has set up a dedicated victim support desk, staffed with clinical professionals, to provide confidential psychological and emotional assistance to those affected.

This was communicated in a Communication Ministry statement, which emphasised that all services will be provided in confidence, ensuring victims feel safe and supported.

The ministers highlighted that the case is being treated as a serious cybercrime under Section 67 of the Cybersecurity Act, 2020 (Act 1038).

Authorities are working to trace digital and financial evidence linked to the suspect whose name has been revealed as Vladislav Luilkov.

Meanwhile, government says investigations extend to anyone who may have redistributed the illegal material.

“President John Dramani Mahama's government remains committed to safeguarding the dignity, privacy, and rights of all citizens and will provide further updates as investigations progress,” the statement said.
