Osei Kwame Despite laughs off alleged NACOC arrest links
Ghanaian businessman Osei Kwame Despite has reacted to swirling online claims attempting to associate him with a recent arrest by the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) over a cocaine bust at Kotoka International Airport.
Speculation erupted in the early hours of Wednesday, February 11, 2026, after reports surfaced that NACOC had apprehended an unnamed suspect accused of trying to smuggle illicit drugs concealed in packaged food items.
Initial media accounts suggested that a manager of a well-known Ghanaian food brand had been taken into custody, sparking intense debate on social media.
As discussions gained momentum, several prominent business personalities linked to food brands were dragged into the conversation.
Among those mentioned were Belinda Big Cheezy of Chez Amis and Despite Media CEO, Osei Kwame Despite.
However, in a video that circulated widely on Thursday, February 12, 2026, Despite appeared unbothered by the rumours. Dressed in black and stepping out of his Rolls-Royce Cullinan, reportedly on his way to a funeral in Kumasi, he jokingly addressed a blogger from Plus 1 TV.
“I’ve been arrested, and you didn’t inform me?” he quipped, brushing off the allegations in a lighthearted exchange.
Meanwhile, Deputy Director-General of NACOC, Alexander Twum-Barimah, moved to clear the air in an interview with TV3.
He clarified that the individuals arrested in connection with the cocaine case are neither managers nor employees of any of the popular food brands mentioned online.
