Ghana Armed Forces temporarily closes Accra recruitment centres, except El-Wak
The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has announced the temporary closure of all recruitment centres in Accra, with the exception of the El-Wak Sports Stadium, effective, Monday, November 24, 2025.
The decision comes after the stampede at the El-Wak Sports Stadium on Wednesday, November 12, 2025.
In response to that incident, GAF had opened additional screening centres, including two at Nicholson Park in Burma Camp, one at the Air Force Base in Burma Camp, two centres at the Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) in Teshie, and another at the Eastern Naval Command in Tema.
However, in a post on X on Sunday, November 23, the GAF announced that all Accra recruitment centres — aside from El-Wak — would now be closed.
“GAF Recruitment Update: All recruitment centres in Accra for the 2025/2026 exercise, except El-Wak Sports Stadium, will be closed on Monday, 24 November 2025. All potential recruits yet to be screened should report to El-Wak Sports Stadium for the continuation of documentation and body selection,” the post read.
The latest directive seeks to streamline the remaining stages of the recruitment process while improving crowd management and enhancing safety following the earlier incident.
