Ghana Navy takes over security at Jubilee House in 45th guard changing ceremony

The 45th Guard Changing Ceremony at Jubilee House, the seat of Ghana’s government, took place on Monday, September 8, 2025. The event marks the official transfer of security duties from the Ghana Army to the Ghana Navy, who will assume responsibility for the next three months.
Held quarterly, the Guard Changing Ceremony is a longstanding tradition that ensures the continuous rotation of military personnel in charge of protecting the presidential residence. It not only reinforces the country’s commitment to security but also showcases the discipline and professionalism of the Ghana Armed Forces.
The ceremony was attended by President John Dramani Mahama, the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, the Minister for the Interior, Alhaji Muntaka Mubarak, the Deputy Minister of Defence, Ernest Brogya Gyamfi, and other senior government officials.
The previous ceremony, the 44th in the series, took place on July 7, 2025, when the Ghana Army took over security from the Ghana Air Force. Today, that responsibility passes to the Ghana Navy in a display of inter-service cooperation and ceremonial precision.
The event feature performances by the military bands of both outgoing and incoming units, underscoring the rich tradition and pageantry that accompanies the transfer of duty at Jubilee House.
