The Ghana Police Service has assured residents of heightened security measures ahead of the Ayawaso East parliamentary by-election scheduled for Tuesday, March 3, 2026.

In a statement issued by the Accra Regional Police Command, the Command said it has put in place comprehensive arrangements to guarantee safety before, during, and after voting in the Ayawaso East Constituency.

According to the police, adequate personnel have been deployed across all designated polling stations and other strategic locations within the constituency to ensure a peaceful, transparent, and orderly electoral process.

Security visibility is also expected to be high, with officers conducting routine patrols throughout the election period to deter any activities that could threaten public order or compromise the credibility of the vote.

The Command cautioned the public against acts of violence, intimidation, misinformation, or any behaviour that could undermine the integrity of the election. It warned that individuals who violate the law will face prosecution in accordance with Ghanaian legal provisions.

Residents and eligible voters have been encouraged to cooperate with security officers, remain calm, and promptly report any suspicious activities to the police.

The statement was signed by Superintendent Juliana Obeng, Head of Public Affairs for the Accra Region, who reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to maintaining peace and safeguarding the democratic process.
