Ghana’s economy ranked 8th largest in Africa - Ato Forson discloses

Ghana’s economy has been ranked the eighth largest in Africa, according to Finance Minister Dr Cassiel Ato Forson.

Dr Ato Forson made the disclosure while presenting the 2026 Mid-Year Budget Review to Parliament, highlighting what he described as significant progress in the country’s economic recovery efforts.

He said the ranking reflects improvements in key economic indicators and government’s commitment to restoring macroeconomic stability.

The Finance Minister noted that ongoing measures including fiscal reforms, debt restructuring and efforts to boost growth, have contributed to strengthening the economy.

Dr Ato Forson also assured Parliament that government would continue implementing policies aimed at improving living conditions, creating jobs and sustaining economic growth.

The statement comes amid government’s efforts to consolidate gains under its economic recovery programme and position Ghana as a leading economy on the continent.
