Homowo: 2 arrested over Omanjor violence

The Accra Regional Police Command has arrested two suspects for their involvement in the Omanjor Chief’s Palace violence during the Homowo Festival on Saturday, August 30th, 2025.
Acting on intelligence, a team from the Accra Regional Police Command and Special Support Unit from the National Headquarters arrested Christian Saka Ahianyevi, aged 35, a private security officer, on August 30th,2025, and Newton Alotey, aged 26, a dispatch rider, on August 31, 2025, over their suspected roles in the Homowo Festival violence that claimed three lives and injured several others.
During the arrest, 18 spent BB cartridges were retrieved from Newton Alotey, while Christian Saka Ahianyevi was found in possession of a locally manufactured pistol, a cutlass, and other exhibits. Meanwhile, all exhibits have been retrieved.
The suspects are in police custody, assisting with investigations, as police continue to maintain a strong security presence in the affected communities.
The Regional Police Command urges all factions and residents to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies. Anyone with credible information on the whereabouts of the remaining suspects should contact the police emergency numbers 18555 or 191.
