Interior Ministry digitalises 18 services as government expands online access
The Ministry of the Interior has digitalised 18 of its services as part of efforts to improve public access and reduce paperwork, Interior Minister Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka has announced.
Speaking during Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang's visit to the ministry, the minister said the digitalisation drive allows members of the public to access a range of services without visiting the Ministry in person.
He said services including child registration and private security registration can now be accessed online.
"We are working very hard to link almost all our services to all our agencies so that we just don't have to be doing paperwork," he said.
The minister also highlighted progress by the Ghana Immigration Service, noting that the country's e-Visa system, launched by President John Dramani Mahama on May 25, had recorded nearly 1,500 applications from 78 countries within its first month.
He added that applications for cannabis cultivation licences through the Narcotics Control Commission are also being processed online as part of the Ministry's wider digital transformation programme.
