JUSAG suspends planned strike after government response to salary arrears concerns
The Judicial Service Staff Association of Ghana (JUSAG) has suspended its planned strike action over the government’s delay in the payment of eight months’ salary arrears, following engagements and assurances from the government.
In a statement, the President of JUSAG, Mr. Samuel Afotey Otu, directed members of the Association to resume and continue with their normal duties with immediate effect.
The decision comes after the government responded to the Association’s demands, prompting JUSAG to put the industrial action on hold while discussions continue toward resolving the outstanding arrears.
JUSAG had earlier threatened to embark on a strike to protest the prolonged delay in the payment of the arrears, which it said was causing severe financial hardship to its members.
Mr. Otu noted that the suspension of the strike demonstrates the Association’s goodwill and commitment to dialogue, while it awaits the full implementation of the government’s assurances.
He, however, indicated that the Association would continue to monitor the situation closely and take further action if necessary, should the government fail to honour its commitments.
