Kufuor mourns helicopter crash victims
Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has joined the nation in mourning the tragic deaths of Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, and six other officials who perished in a military helicopter crash on Wednesday, 6 August 2025.
In an official statement released from his office, the former President expressed profound sorrow over the loss of the two prominent ministers and their colleagues, describing the incident as a “shocking national tragedy.”
The officials were reported to be on a national assignment when their helicopter went down in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region.
“With all humility, I join the nation to mourn this shocking loss,” President Kufuor said.
He extended heartfelt condolences to the families, friends, and colleagues of the deceased, as well as to H.E. the President and the people of Ghana, urging collective reflection during this time of grief.
In his message, President Kufuor also called on Ghanaians to honour the legacy of the departed through a renewed commitment to compassion, unity, and a shared national purpose.
“May we honour their memory by striving for compassion, unity, and common purpose in serving our nation,” he stated, adding a spiritual appeal for divine consolation for the bereaved families and the country at large.
The statement underscores the gravity of the loss and the need for national solidarity as investigations continue into the cause of the tragic accident.
