Veep graces 70th anniversary of Girls’ Brigade Ghana
Vice President Prof Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang on Sunday served as the Guest of Honour at the 70th Anniversary Celebration of the Girls’ Brigade Ghana, where she commended the organisation for its decades of service, mentorship, and commitment to the development of young girls.
The ceremony brought together young members, leaders, and senior figures of the Brigade, reflecting the values that have defined the group since its establishment—discipline, compassion, teamwork, and community service.
Addressing the gathering, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang praised the Brigade for its role in nurturing girls to become responsible and impactful leaders.
She highlighted their contributions through community outreach, hospital visits, and programmes that uplift girls and provide practical support where it is most needed.
“Their service is a reminder that leadership is a commitment to making life better for others,” she said, expressing gratitude for the organisation’s continued dedication to empowering girls across the country.
The Vice President urged the young members to uphold the values of compassion, courage, and discipline at a time when girls face challenges such as confidence deficits and limited opportunities.
She emphasised that such challenges “cannot be left to chance,” noting that institutions like the Girls’ Brigade play a critical role in building strong, purposeful, and confident young women.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang further applauded the Brigade for modelling leadership rooted in service, teamwork founded on mutual respect, and a mission grounded in faith and community.
She expressed optimism that the Girls’ Brigade Ghana will continue to grow “in strength and purpose” as it impacts future generations.
