Nationwide payroll audit of ministries, departments, agencies announced by Auditor-General

The Auditor-General would be conducting a nationwide payroll audit of all covered entities on the Government of Ghana's (GoG) Controller and Accountant General's (CAGD) payroll system and Subvented Organisations, the Office of the Auditor-General has announced.
A letter dated March 28, 2025, signed by Johnson Akuamoah Asiedu, Auditor-General, said, “The audit which will cover the payroll of ministries, departments, agencies (MDA) and all subvented orgainsations for the period 1 January 2023 to 31 December 2024 will include a headcount of all staff on the Government-payroll.”
“To facilitate smooth performance and completion of the audit on time, we would be grateful if the Auditors are given unhindered access to all books, returns and other documents including documents in computerized and electronic form relating to the audit in line with Article 187(3) of the 1992 Constitution and Section 11(2) of the Audit Service Act, 2000,” the statement explained.
“You are also advised by this letter to inform all agencies allied with your ministry to hold themselves in readiness for the upcoming audit.”
