Feess and charges for passport

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration has officially presented an amended Fees and Charges schedule to Parliament, which includes a significant reduction in the cost of acquiring an ordinary Ghanaian passport—from GHS500.00 to GHS350.00.

The move, which has been widely welcomed by the public, is part of broader reforms aimed at making passport acquisition more affordable and accessible for all Ghanaians.

Sector Minister, Mr Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, expressed gratitude to the Ghanaian people for giving the National Democratic Congress (NDC) a strong presence in Parliament, which he said will ensure the smooth passage of the revised fees in the coming days.

“This is a clear demonstration that the Mahama administration is keeping its promise to the people,” Mr. Ablakwa stated in a Facebook post.

He called on  Ghanaians to disregard the misinformation coming from  a section of the Minority in Parliament

“Even as we reduce fees, we have implemented sweeping reforms that have dramatically improved the speed, convenience, and professionalism of passport services.”

The Ministry’s recent digitisation efforts have led to faster processing times and the successful integration of courier services for direct passport delivery—enhancing overall user experience and eliminating delays.

With the revised fees expected to be approved shortly, the Ministry says it remains committed to maintaining high standards in service delivery while ensuring that government services remain affordable and efficient for all citizens.
