President John Dramani Mahama has announced the resumption of construction works on the long-stalled Western Regional Hospital project at Apemenyim in the Ahanta West Municipality.

The president made the announcement during a one-day working visit to the Western Region on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, where he also cut the sod for the commencement of the dualisation of the Takoradi–Cape Coast section of the N1 Highway.

Speaking at the hospital project site, President Mahama revealed that all challenges that had delayed progress had now been resolved, paving the way for full-scale construction to resume.

“I am happy to announce that all the challenges that stalled this important project have now been resolved,” he said.

“Work will resume immediately, and we are determined to see it through to completion within the next 18 months.”

President Mahama toured the site and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to expanding healthcare infrastructure across the country.

“The completion of the Western Regional Hospital will significantly enhance access to quality healthcare services for our people,” he stated.

“Every region deserves a modern, well-equipped hospital, and this project is part of our broader plan to strengthen the health sector nationwide.”

The president also reiterated his government’s resolve to improve the Western Region’s road network under the Big Push Initiative, a flagship programme focused on revitalising critical national infrastructure.

“We are committed to completing all deteriorating roads in this region,” he emphasised.

“Good roads are not just about transportation — they are about development, safety, and connecting communities to opportunities.”
