The Commuters Care Association (CCA) has expressed deep concern over the recent 20% increase in transport fares implemented by the Alliance of Drivers Ghana on March 17, 2025, citing a lack of comprehensive stakeholder consultation.

According to the Alliance of Drivers Ghana, the fare adjustment was necessitated by rising fuel prices, escalating engine oil costs, and increasing vehicle spare parts prices.

However, the Abossey Okai Spare Parts Dealers Association has refuted these claims, insisting that there have been no recent increases in spare parts prices, import duties, or market conditions to justify the hike.

The CCA is calling on transport operators to engage in transparent and inclusive discussions with relevant authorities before implementing any further fare adjustments.

The Association also urges commuters to remain vigilant and report unauthorized fare hikes to the appropriate regulatory bodies.

The Association expressed concerns about the situation on the transport front in a statement signed by its Public Relations Officer, Mr Theophilus Apaw dated March 19, 2025.
