São Tomé and Príncipe President in Ghana to pay tribute to helicopter crash victims

The President of São Tomé and Príncipe, H.E. Carlos Vila Nova, has paid his respects to the eight victims of Ghana’s recent Air Force helicopter crash, laying flowers and signing the book of condolence in their honour.

President Vila Nova visited the memorial site on Monday, August 11, where he joined Ghanaian officials and mourners in remembering those who perished in the August 6 tragedy in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region.

The crash claimed the lives of Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah; Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed; Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator Muniru Mohammed; former parliamentary candidate Samuel Aboagye; NDC Vice Chairman Samuel Sarpong; Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala; Flying Officer Manin Twum-Ampadu; and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.

The state funeral for all eight victims is scheduled to take place on Friday, August 15, at the Black Star Square in Accra.

 

President Vila Nova’s tribute comes as Ghana continues to receive condolences from across the globe, reflecting the international outpouring of sympathy for the country’s loss.
