Speaker of Parliament mourns demise of senior state officials and an MP

The Speaker of Ghana’s Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, and the entire Leadership of the House have noted “with deep sorrow the confirmation of the news of the tragic passing of senior state officials,” including Defence Minister Dr Edward Omane Boamah, and Tamale Central Member of Parliament and Environment Minister Dr Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed.
The statesmen were identified among eight occupants of a Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) Z9 helicopter which took off from Accra to Obuasi but tragically crashed and burned everyone therein.
“Parliament is deeply saddened by this news, and would want to, at this time, express its deepest condolences to the bereaved families and indeed the entire Republic,” a statement signed by David Sebastian Damoah Director, Media Relations, added.
“May the souls of our departed colleagues who have died in the service of our Republic rest in peace,” the statement ended.
