Bawumia commiserates with family of late Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed

Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has paid a condolence visit to the family of the late Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, Member of Parliament for Tamale Central and Minister of Environment, Science, and Technology, who died in a tragic military helicopter crash on August 6, 2025.
Dr. Bawumia was accompanied by senior party officials and Members of Parliament to the family home, where he expressed deep sorrow over the passing of the veteran politician and public servant.
He described the late minister as a dedicated leader who served Ghana with passion, commitment, and integrity.
He assured the bereaved family of the New Patriotic Party's support during this difficult period and prayed for strength and comfort for them.
The late Murtala Mohammed was among eight prominent personalities, including Defence Minister Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, who lost their lives in the crash in the Ashanti Region.
His death has been described as a huge loss to both the Northern Region and the nation at large.
