Temporary traffic disruption at Labone Junction for footbridge works
The Ministry of Roads and Highways has issued a notice informing road users of a brief traffic disruption along Ring Road East at the Labone Junction in the Greater Accra Region due to ongoing construction of a pedestrian footbridge.
In a statement released on January 26, 2026, the Ministry explained that the temporary closure is required to enable the contractor, Janson Bridging International BV, to install a major section of the footbridge as part of road safety enhancement works at identified accident-prone areas.
The traffic restriction will be in force from January 31 through to February 1, 2026, during late-night hours between 10:00 p.m. and 3:00 a.m.

As part of the exercise, alternative routes will be created to allow for crane operations and the safe placement of the bridge structure. Drivers and pedestrians have been urged to pay close attention to directional signs and traffic instructions during the period.
