UK and Bank of Ghana host inaugural London-to-Accra Economic Growth Summit
The British High Commission in Ghana, in partnership with the Bank of Ghana, on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, hosted the inaugural London-to-Accra Economic Growth Summit, aimed at exploring new pathways for sustainable economic development.
The landmark summit brought together key stakeholders, including the Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr. Johnson Asiama; First Deputy Governor, Dr. Zakari Mumuni; Second Deputy Governor, Mrs. Matilda Asante-Asiedu; British High Commissioner to Ghana, Dr. Christian Rogg; senior government officials, members of the Ghanaian diaspora, private sector players, and development partners.
Addressing participants, Dr. Asiama reaffirmed the Bank of Ghana’s commitment to maintaining financial stability while promoting inclusive and sustainable economic growth.
He described the summit as a strategic platform to strengthen collaboration between policymakers and the diaspora.
“Today’s summit creates an opportunity to deepen structured dialogue between the diaspora and policymakers, unlocking transformative opportunities for growth and development,” the Governor stated.
Dr. Asiama further announced that the central bank, in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance, will roll out targeted interventions over the course of the year.
These include the implementation of a National Remittance Strategy and the organisation of a Remittance Roadshow aimed at expanding diaspora engagement across the continent.
The summit is expected to strengthen economic ties between Ghana and the United Kingdom while harnessing diaspora resources, expertise, and investment to support Ghana’s long-term development agenda.
