V/R: GWCL Kpeve Headworks pumps fail again, residents hunt for water
In less than five working days after repair works were completed at the Kpeve Headworks of the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) in the Volta Region, the pumps have failed again, sending residents on a hunt for water.
According to the Regional Supply Manager of the GWCL, Engineer Ransford Nii Gyan Amoo, the mechanical problem occurred on Friday, January 10, 2025.
He assured, however, engineers were on the ground to fix the challenge.
The latest development is likely to plunge residents of Ho and its environs into another water crisis, as some areas have not had water supply since the initial repairs.
This is the second time the Kpeve Headworks pump has failed within one month of the new year.
Residents, worried about the situation, have appealed to the government and the management of the Ghana Water Company Limited to make funds available for the procurement of new pumps to bring an end to this challenge.
