V/R: Rigorous screening process ends in joy as applicants secure places in Ghana Armed Forces
The Commanding Officer of the 66 Artillery Regiment, Lieutenant Colonel Jalali Din Ibrahim, has underscored the demanding nature of military training, urging prospective recruits to prepare themselves mentally, physically, and psychologically for the challenges ahead.
According to him, the journey through training requires discipline, endurance, and the ability to manage stress under strict supervision.
He stated that recruits who successfully complete intense drills and exercises must demonstrate a high level of resilience, describing them as “masters of stress.”
Such individuals, he noted, earn limited privileges, including short periods of rest and personal time, depending on the approval of their commanders.
However, he emphasised that training remains highly structured, with little room for leisure, as the focus is on building strong, disciplined soldiers.
Lt. Col. Ibrahim also highlighted the advantage held by individuals with prior cadet experience, particularly those who participated in school cadet programmes.
He noted that such backgrounds provide familiarity with military culture, making adaptation to training conditions easier compared to those without similar exposure.
He further advised recruits to maintain respect for authority and adhere strictly to military protocols.
According to him, discipline and humility are key traits that determine success in training, warning that failure to comply with instructions could lead to disqualification.

Meanwhile, some successful applicants expressed excitement and gratitude after making it through the rigorous screening process.
One recruit admitted that although the journey was initially frightening due to the large number of applicants, he felt proud to have reached the final stage, attributing his success to determination and divine intervention.
Another applicant shared that the process, which included aptitude tests and medical examinations at the 37 Military Hospital, was both challenging and rewarding.
Despite moments of doubt particularly during the early stages at the screening center the candidate said perseverance and personal circumstances, including unemployment after completing national service, motivated her to continue.

Others also echoed similar sentiments, expressing appreciation to their families for their support and voicing optimism about the upcoming training. They expressed hope of successfully completing the program and serving the nation with dedication.
The successful applicants have now been cleared to proceed to the next phase of training, marking the beginning of their journey into military service, as they prepare to face the demanding but rewarding path of becoming personnel of the Ghana Armed Forces.
