Without security, development cannot thrive – Vice President
Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has described security as the foundation of national development, saying it is essential for every aspect of the country's progress.
Addressing officials of the Ministry of the Interior, she commended the security agencies for their role in protecting lives and maintaining law and order.
"As members of the Ministry of Interior, you hold our lives. You ensure we are safe. Without safety, there isn't much we can do," she said.
The vice president noted that security is a prerequisite for development and urged the agencies to continue discharging their responsibilities professionally.
"Security is the precursor to everything, including development," she stated.
She also emphasised the importance of public education, saying citizens must understand the reasons behind laws, the consequences of breaking them and the benefits of complying with them.
Prof Opoku-Agyemang assured personnel of the government's continued support as they work to achieve the country's development goals.
