Finance Minister Dr Cassiel Ato Forson has assured Ghanaians that public funds are being managed responsibly, stressing their money is safe under the current administration.

Presenting the 2026 Mid-Year Budget Review in Parliament, Dr Ato Forson said the government recognised that every cedi collected or borrowed belonged to the people and must be used in the national interest.

"The money we manage does not belong to those entrusted to manage it. It belongs to the people of Ghana – it belongs to you," he said.

He added that every cedi collected in taxes, every cedi borrowed and every cedi spent carried "a sacred obligation to use it wisely, honestly and always in the national interest”.

Offering a direct assurance to the public, the Finance Minister said: "My assurance to this House and to every Ghanaian is simple: your money is safe."

Dr Ato Forson also expressed confidence in the government's stewardship of the economy.

"Under the leadership of President Mahama, your economy is in safe hands. And as long as I have the honour to serve as Minister for Finance, it will remain so," he said.
