Three men arrested in connection with the death of a 26-year-old Liberian national at Lashibi have been put before court as investigations by the Ghana Police Service continue into what authorities describe as a case of mob assault.

The suspects, Vincent Adzikah, 38, Francis Amuzu, 44, and William Addison, 34, appeared before an Accra court on Monday, March 2, 2026, following their arrest by the Accra Regional Police Command.

Prosecutors told the court the trio is assisting with investigations into the death of Austin Tengeeh, who reportedly died after being attacked by residents at an apartment complex in Lashibi.

According to the prosecution’s brief facts, the deceased had gone to visit his brother at the apartment on Friday, February 27, accompanied by his girlfriend. During the visit, the apartment caretaker allegedly raised an alarm accusing him of being a thief, prompting some residents and members of the public to assault him.

Police said a patrol team responding to a distress call rushed to the scene and rescued the victim. He was transported to the Sakumono Community Hospital for emergency treatment but was pronounced dead on arrival.

The body has since been deposited at the Lashibi Funeral Home for preservation and autopsy.

In court, the prosecution indicated that investigations are ongoing and disclosed that a fourth suspect, identified as Enoch Mensah, remains at large. Efforts are underway to apprehend him.

The three accused persons were processed through court as police seek to determine each suspect’s level of involvement in the assault. The case has been adjourned to allow investigators to complete their work.

Meanwhile, the police reiterated a caution to the public against taking the law into their own hands, stressing that mob justice and unlawful assaults are criminal offences that undermine due process.

Authorities have urged residents to report suspected criminal activity to law enforcement rather than resorting to violence.
