A/R: 2 jailed over armed robbery at New Edubiase fuel station

Two men have been sentenced to prison for their roles in an armed robbery at the Brent Energy Filling Station at New Edubiase in the Ashanti Region.

The convicts, Kwadwo Baffour, 38, a driver, and Kwame Affisah, also known as Abedinago, 36, were convicted by the Bekwai Circuit Court on June 15, 2026, on two counts of robbery under Section 149 of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29).

According to the prosecution, the robbery took place on August 17, 2024, at about 1:30 AM.

The two men, armed with pump-action guns, reportedly attacked fuel attendants at the filling station and stole GH₵2,500 in cash as well as personal belongings valued at approximately GH₵200,000.

Delivering judgment, the presiding judge Justice Isaac Appiatu sentenced Kwadwo Baffour to 20 years' imprisonment on each count.

Kwame Affisah, who is already serving a seven-year prison sentence at Kumasi Central Prison for a separate offence, received 30 years' imprisonment on each count.

The court ordered that the sentences run concurrently.

Both convicts are serving their prison terms at Kumasi Central Prison.
