Adwoa Safo shooting: Police arrest Israel Kwadwo Safo Akofena, 2 others
The Ghana Police Service has arrested Israel Kwadwo Safo, popularly known as Akofena, alongside two other suspects following a shooting incident involving the former Member of Parliament (MP) for Dome-Kwabenya, Sarah Adwoa Safo, on June 21, 2026.
According to a police statement, Akofena reported himself to the Regional Police Headquarters on June 22, 2026.
He was subsequently transferred to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Headquarters to assist with investigations.
A subsequent search conducted on his vehicle and his residence in Kwabenya resulted in the retrieval of a substantial cache of ammunition and weapons.
Items seized include 120 rounds of 9mm ammunition, 50 rounds of .45 caliber ammunition, 25 rounds of .40 caliber ammunition, multiple loaded magazines, and two Glock pistols, one of which is registered under the suspect's name.
Continued police investigations led to the arrest of two additional individuals, Nana Kwaku Afriyie and Kwadwo Safo Koomson, who are suspected of being connected to the case.
All three suspects remain in police custody to assist with the ongoing inquiry.
They are scheduled to be arraigned before court on Tuesday, June 23, 2026.
