Ashanti Regional police commander pledges justice for slain Kusasi chief

The Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Emmanuel Teye Cudjoe, has assured the family of the late Kusasi Chief, Naa Abdul-Malik Azenbe, that the police will spare no effort in arresting those behind his assassination.
DCOP Teye Cudjoe gave the assurance during a visit to the Chief’s family at Asawase F-Line, the scene of the tragic incident.
He disclosed that the Inspector General of Police (IGP) has deployed additional personnel to support regional efforts to track down the assailants.
“We are fully committed to ensuring that the perpetrators of this heinous crime are brought to justice.
We urge the youth and the community to remain calm as we work around the clock to make arrests,” the Commander said.
The late Chief, who also served as the Kaadi Divisional Area Chief in the Bawku Traditional Area of the Upper East Region, was reportedly shot dead by two assailants on a motorbike outside his residence on Tuesday, July 22, 2025.
He was rushed to the Manhyia Government Hospital and later referred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
In a show of solidarity, the Ashanti Regional President of the Council of Zongo Chiefs, Naba Musah Akabonga, expressed faith in the police’s capacity to solve the case.
“We believe justice will be served, and we trust the police to do their work professionally and swiftly,” he said.
Also speaking during the visit, the Member of Parliament for Binduri, Yusif Mahmoud, urged the police to intensify investigations and ensure that those responsible face the full rigours of the law.
The killing of Naa Abdul-Malik has sent shockwaves through the local community and beyond, with calls mounting for enhanced security in the area and swift justice for the bereaved family.
