Bono East police arrest suspected motorbike theft syndicate, retrieve 18 stolen bikes

Police in the Bono East Region have arrested multiple suspects believed to be part of a motorbike theft and robbery syndicate operating across several towns, recovering 18 stolen motorbikes in the process.
According to police, the operation began on 11th August 2025 at about 2:00 p.m., when officers, acting on a tip-off, arrested Awudu Razak, also known as “USA,” in possession of a stolen striped black Apsonic motorbike.
A search of the motorbike’s storage compartment revealed a locally manufactured pistol, three live cartridges, two spanners, a plier, a pair of gloves, a pair of scissors, and a black polythene bag with holes, allegedly used as a face mask.
During interrogation, Razak admitted to stealing and robbing several motorbikes in Techiman, Sunyani, Bole, Damongo, and other areas.
He led police to the hideouts of his alleged accomplices—identified as Abdul Rauf alias “Gye Nyame” and Sadick Asamoah alias “Money”—both of whom were arrested.
A third suspect, Baba Issah alias “Container Money,” is currently on the run.
Four motorbikes were retrieved during this phase of the operation.
Razak also named other alleged collaborators, including Nana of Abofour, Razak Iddriss, and Bukari Issahaku, said to be recipients of the stolen motorbikes.
Police subsequently arrested all three and retrieved 14 motorbikes from Bukari Iddriss.
All suspects are currently in police custody, and the recovered motorbikes have been impounded as exhibits. Police say efforts are underway to apprehend the remaining suspects and complete investigations.
