The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has interdicted five officers from its Customs Division pending investigations into alleged breaches of established procedures.

In a press statement dated February 24, 2026, the Authority said the action follows preliminary findings from an enforcement exercise carried out on February 18, 2026, involving a consignment of transit cargo declared for onward transportation to Niger.

According to the GRA, the operation revealed discrepancies in documentation and instances of non-compliance with laid-down transit protocols.

The findings have triggered a comprehensive internal review to ascertain the full circumstances surrounding the transaction.

The Authority indicated that initial assessments point to possible procedural lapses that warrant an independent and thorough examination.

The ongoing probe is expected to determine the extent of individual involvement and establish whether there were any violations of Customs regulations.

The GRA further noted that additional officers may be called upon to assist with the investigation, if required. It assured the public that appropriate administrative measures would be taken in line with relevant laws and regulations once the process is concluded.

Management emphasised that the interdictions underscore the Authority’s resolve to protect national revenue, bolster local industry, and uphold economic stability.
