The Criminal Division of the Accra High Court has struck out, as withdrawn, an application by the Attorney General seeking to revoke the travel permission earlier granted to former Chief Executive Officer of the National Food Buffer Stock Company (NAFCO), Hanan Abdul-Wahab.

The prosecution withdrew the application after informing the court that the travel order it sought to revoke had already expired on July 12, 2026.

Deputy Attorney General, Dr Justice Srem-Sai, told the court that the application had become unnecessary because the travel permission had lapsed.

Presiding judge, Justice Francis Achibonga, agreed, noting that the travel permission granted on June 29, 2026, allowed Hanan Abdul-Wahab to travel to the United Kingdom on July 4 and return by July 12. The court held that since the order had expired, there was no existing order capable of being revoked.

Lead counsel for Hanan Abdul-Wahab, Godfred Yeboah Dame, argued that the prosecution's application was intended to frustrate the court's earlier order by preventing his client from benefiting from the travel permission.

He further contended that despite the court's orders, the Republic had continued to hold his client's passport and seized money, describing the actions as a disregard for the court's directives.

Responding to the claims, Dr Justice Srem-Sai rejected the assertion that the prosecution was responsible for the hearing date, explaining that the fixing of motion dates is the responsibility of the court registry and not any party to the case.

Justice Achibonga subsequently struck out the motion, which had been filed on July 8, 2026, as withdrawn, bringing the application to an end.
