J.B Danquah Adu murder trial to end by March 2024
Justice Lydia Osei Marfo, the presiding judge overseeing the trial where Daniel Asiedu faces a jury for the murder of Joseph Boakye Danquah-Adu, is optimistic about completing the trial by March 2024.
On Wednesday, January 31, 2024, the court, along with the jury, established a set of dates to expedite the proceedings.
The trial encountered a delay at the onset of the 2023/24 legal year due to the improper constitution of the jury, with one juror on maternity leave since October of the previous year.
Chief Inspector Augustine Nkrumah, now Assistant Superintendent of Police and the eighth Prosecution Witness, is set to undergo further cross-examination by defense lawyers led by Yaw Dankwah.
Following this cross-examination, the prosecution, led by Principal State Attorney Mrs Sefakor Batse, will conclude their case.
To ensure a swift trial, an agreement has been reached among the court, jury, prosecution, and defense lawyers for a series of dates from February 20 to March 27, 2024, to bring the case to completion.
Justice Lydia Osei Marfo, before adjourning the case to February 20, 2024, mentioned, “Further dates have been agreed upon for the continuation of this trial which starts from February 20 to March 27, 2024, by which time the trial would have been completed.”
Daniel Asiedu, also known as Sexy Don Don, has pleaded not guilty to the murder charge and denies the accusation of robbery.
Alongside Asiedu, Vincent Bossu, alias Agongo, faces charges of conspiracy to rob. Both individuals remain in lawful custody, with the prosecution presenting witnesses and the investigator currently testifying in the witness box.
