NACOC arrests 5 Central University students over alleged Cannabis trade
The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has arrested five students of Central University over their alleged involvement in the sale and distribution of cannabis and cannabis-infused products on campus.
The suspects, who are in Levels 100, 300 and 400, were apprehended during a targeted operation following intelligence on suspected drug-related activities within the university community.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the students allegedly produced and sold cannabis-infused products, including ice cream, sobolo, toffees, pepper and eggs, in addition to dealing in raw cannabis.
NACOC said quantities of suspected substances were recovered during the operation and have been seized for forensic analysis as investigations continue.
The Commission reiterated its commitment to tackling drug-related activities in educational institutions and cautioned students against engaging in the use, sale or trafficking of narcotic substances.
The five students are assisting investigators as efforts continue to determine the full extent of the alleged operation and identify any other individuals who may be connected to it.
