The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has opened investigations into a major drug seizure in Australia involving a shipment that originated from Ghana.

The move follows the interception by Australian authorities of approximately 320 kilograms of methamphetamine concealed in cargo exported from Ghana to Australia.

In a statement issued on June 19, 2026, and signed by Acting Director of Public Affairs and International Relations, Francis Opoku Amoah, NACOC said it had taken note of the case and had begun inquiries to determine the circumstances surrounding the attempted trafficking operation.

The commission said it is collaborating with local security agencies and international partners to identify, trace and arrest all persons connected to the shipment.

“NACOC remains committed to strengthening international cooperation and ensuring that Ghana’s territory and commercial channels are not exploited by transnational drug trafficking networks,” the statement said.

The investigation comes after Australian authorities charged three people in connection with the seizure, which is estimated to be worth A$296 million.
