Oti: Kete-Krachi police arrest two for possession of suspected Indian hemp

The Anti-Robbery Unit of the Kete-Krachi Divisional Police Command in the Oti Region has arrested two individuals for possession of substances suspected to be Indian hemp during an intelligence-led operation.

The suspects, identified as John Dzeble, 34, and Adzobi Mesiwotso, 24, were apprehended on June 15, 2025, after the police intercepted an Opel Astra vehicle with registration number GT 6430-13, driven by Dzeble with Mesiwotso on board.

A thorough search of the vehicle uncovered 86 compressed parcels of suspected Indian hemp concealed in various compartments of the car, including the engine bay, doors, and boot.

Police also retrieved a portable measuring scale and a roll of masking tape, believed to have been used in the packaging of the illicit substances.

The two suspects are currently in police custody and are assisting with ongoing investigations.

 

The Oti Regional Police Command has commended the officers involved for their swift and professional response, reaffirming its commitment to combating drug trafficking and other related crimes across the region.
