Oti: Police-military operation leads to arrest and weapons seizure in Nkwanta

A joint police and military team on Friday, August 1, 2025, arrested a 50-year-old man, Francis Donkor, during an intelligence-led operation in Nkwanta for unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition.
The operation, which took place around 6:15 p.m. near King’s Filling Station Down, followed credible intelligence linking certain individuals to recent violent rioting activities in Nkwanta and its surrounding areas.
Security personnel swiftly cordoned off the area to ensure public safety and prevent any escape.
A search of the premises led to the discovery of two single-barrel guns and four AAA cartridges in the room of suspect.
Francis Donkor was immediately taken into custody and is currently assisting police with ongoing investigations.
The recovered weapons and ammunition have been retained as evidence to support the case.
The Ghana Police Service has reiterated its commitment to ensuring peace and security in the region and has cautioned the public against the unlawful possession and use of firearms.
