Ensure programme choice matches code – CSSPS advises parents and candidates
The Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) is calling on parents and candidates to ensure their chosen programmes for the Free Senior High School (SHS) programme match the corresponding programme codes.
This alignment is crucial for a smooth admission process, according to the CSSPS.
Mr. Mark Sasu Mensah, the Coordinator of CSSPS, emphasized this point during an interview, reminding candidates and parents to double-check their choices when filling out the school placement forms.
"For instance, if a parent or candidate selects General Arts, the correct code is '5'.
Any mistake in this code can create complications in the placement process," he explained.
Speaking on the Ghana Yensom morning show on Accra 100.5 FM, co-hosted by Otafrifya Kayire Apea-Apreku and Odehyeeba Kofi Essuman, Mr. Sasu Mensah highlighted that the computerized placement system operates on the "Garbage-In, Garbage-Out" principle.
"If the forms are filled out incorrectly, the system will produce incorrect results," he warned.
To minimize errors, the Ministry of Education will introduce a confirmation text message to allow parents and candidates to verify and correct any mistakes before the automatic placement of students.
Mr. Sasu Mensah urged parents to carefully follow the provided guidelines when filling out the forms to avoid common issues, such as male students being placed in girls' schools or female students in male-dominated schools.
He also apologized to parents and candidates for the delay in announcing the placement process, attributing the delay to efforts to fine-tune the system and eliminate recurring issues. "It's important for candidates and parents to adhere to the guidelines governing the selection process to ensure a smooth experience," he added.
The selection exercise began today, Monday, September 2, 2024.
