Essikan-Ketan MP launches free school bus service to boost access to education
The Essikado-Ketan Constituency Member of Parliament and Deputy Minister for Health has announced a groundbreaking initiative to support education and ease the daily commute of students by introducing a Free School Bus Service for all day students within the constituency.
The programme, spearheaded by Prof. Dr. Grace Ayensu-Danquah, is set to operate through 2028 and aims to improve school attendance, reduce transportation barriers, and promote a more reliable and comfortable learning experience for students.
According to the MP, the initiative reflects her long-term commitment to education and youth empowerment, ensuring that students can travel safely and punctually to and from school each day.
By addressing transportation challenges, the service is expected to enhance academic performance and reduce absenteeism.
The project also aligns with President John Dramani Mahama’s national agenda to expand educational access and improve the welfare of Ghanaian youth.
Supporters have described it as a hands-on, community-driven effort to bridge inequalities in access to quality education within the Essikado-Ketan Constituency.
In the coming weeks, the MP’s office is expected to release detailed information on routes, pick-up points, safety protocols, and enrollment procedures.
Parents, teachers, and local stakeholders have welcomed the announcement and are awaiting the official rollout schedule and budgetary framework.
Expected Benefits for Students and FamiliesImproved access to education: Students can attend school regularly without worrying about transportation costs or logistical challenges.
Enhanced punctuality and performance: Consistent, timely arrivals are expected to positively impact academic outcomes.
Community investment in youth development: The initiative reinforces the constituency’s dedication to education and family welfare.
Officials are encouraging residents to stay tuned for updates as preparations advance.
