GES debunks false notice regarding 2026 BECE school selection commencement
The Ghana Education Service (GES) has dismissed a widely circulated notice claiming that the 2026 school selection exercise for Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates began on June 15.
In a statement released on June 14, the GES clarified that it has not announced the start of the school selection process. It urged candidates, parents, guardians, teachers, and the general public to completely disregard the false information.
The fraudulent notice claimed that candidates were required to select and submit five preferred schools for the placement process, that there was no submission deadline, and directed individuals to seek assistance through an unofficial WhatsApp support line.
The GES emphasized that the publication did not originate from its offices and that all official information regarding school selection and placement will be communicated exclusively through its recognized channels and authorized platforms.
Furthermore, the Service cautioned the public against sharing personal information or engaging with the individuals behind the fake announcement, warning that doing so could expose them to fraud and exploitation. Stakeholders were advised to verify all education-related announcements and rely solely on official government and education sector channels.
