Ghana Immigration Service arrests over 50 Nigerians for alleged cyber fraud and human trafficking at McCarthy Hill

The Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) has arrested more than 50 Nigerian nationals in a major operation targeting suspected cyber fraud and human trafficking activities at McCarthy Hill, a suburb of Accra.
The operation, carried out by GIS officials, followed intelligence reports about suspicious activities in the area.
Upon storming the location, officers apprehended the suspects, many of whom were found with electronic devices believed to be used for fraudulent online operations.
Preliminary investigations also point to elements of human trafficking, with some of the individuals reportedly lured to Ghana under the pretence of employment opportunities.
A statement from the Immigration Service confirmed the arrests and indicated that the suspects are currently in custody while further investigations are underway.
Authorities say the operation is part of broader efforts to clamp down on transnational crime, especially cyber fraud and trafficking networks operating within the country.
The GIS has assured the public that it will continue to work with other security agencies to root out criminal elements and protect the country’s borders and internal security.
