NYA to establish school volunteerism clubs to nurture youth leadership – CEO
The Chief Executive Officer of the National Youth Authority (NYA), Osman Ayariga, has announced plans to establish School Volunteerism Clubs in Junior and Senior High Schools across the country.
The initiative, he said, is designed to instil the spirit of volunteerism, civic responsibility, and community service in young people from an early age.
Speaking on the new youth development initiative, Mr Ayariga explained that the proposed clubs will serve as platforms for students to engage in meaningful community-based projects while learning leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
He emphasised that building a culture of volunteerism among young Ghanaians is essential to national development and social cohesion.
“The National Youth Authority is committed to nurturing a new generation of active citizens who are motivated to contribute positively to society,” Mr Ayariga said.
“Soon, NYA will establish School Volunteerism Clubs in Junior and Senior High Schools to nurture the spirit of volunteerism from a young age.”
He noted that the clubs will also work closely with school authorities and local communities to identify and address pressing social needs through collective action.
Mr Ayariga reaffirmed the Authority’s dedication to complementing the government’s broader youth empowerment agenda through programmes that promote civic engagement and social impact.
He added that the NYA will collaborate with the Ghana Education Service (GES) and other stakeholders to ensure that the School Volunteerism Clubs are effectively rolled out and sustained in all regions of the country.
