The sinking Zenu Cluster of Schools at Kpone- katmanso

The structures of the one-storey Zenu Cluster of Schools in the Kpone Katamanso Constituency in the Greater Accra Region are sinking due to the overpopulation of the pupils.

According to Accra 100.5 FM’s correspondent Kwame Tawiah, the building was constructed in 2016 under the tenure of Afortey Agbo as the Member of Parliament for the area.

The building houses 12 schools and runs a two shift systems in the morning and afternoon.

Six schools come in the morning while another six come in the afternoon.

Tawiah reports that each class of the six schools has about 100 students.

Confirming the dire situation of the Zenu Cluster of Schools on the Ghana Yesnom morning show hosted by Odeyeeba Kofi Essuman on Accra 100.5 FM on Thursday, May 11, 2023, the Assemblyman for Zenu Electoral Area, Jerry John Adjorlolo, said the one-storey school is sinking on one side due to overpopulation of students.

According to him, engineers from the Assembly upon invitation by the school authorities confirmed the structure is sinking as a result of the overpopulation of the students.

He said the Assembly has promised to have the situation corrected in two to three weeks.

In the meantime, some of the students will be moved to a nearby private school where a canopy has been erected to provide some shade from the sun to enable them to learn there.

He appealed to the Education Minister to come to the aid of the school.
